I spent last week on a retreat out in Tucson, Arizona. It was needless to say, everything God knew I needed and then some. I have never been to Arizona before, so I was like a kid in a candy store just gawking at every single beautiful new-to-me piece of creation that I saw. I was grateful to be able to take a couple of days extra to meet up with some humans I've only known through the internet. It was a blessing and an inspiration to be with them. The first morning I awoke from my night at the retreat center, I was blessed to see this view:
Hallelujah, indeed.
And then, after soaking in the Creator's beauty, I wrote this prayer/poem:
----------
i turn my face to You
and the Warmth fills my soul
i may not have words
and yet i know that You know
You shed Your Perfect Light
not just on me but on all of Your creation
if i don't stop or at least slow down
i'll miss all the Beauty before me
i love being in awe of all Your Wonder
i love being in wonderment of Your Awe
the details You put into each tiny flower
the shadows that are cast by Your morning sun
the colors You paint with the rocks that cry out
of Your Glory and Splendor and Love
the land that has soaked up years of witnessing
the cacti that stay nourished by adapting
the mountains that flex their beautiful strength
and me...
on this cold rock
singing Your praises
thank You my God for creating all this Beauty
thank You for being my Rock and my Light
thank You for all You do for me
help me to win this internal fight
amen
